Do you want the Lord in your life? God said in John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Friend, when God says something it is the final Word on it. You must believe. You do not have to be perfect today to be saved. God will change those imperfections later. Trust Him because He is able. He wants you now as you are. He does not care if you are sleeping around, doing drugs, or a murderer. He wants to save you today. Ask Him to come in. Just say Father (God), the Bible says I am a sinner. But it also tells me you have made a way for me to have ever lasting life in Heaven with you. I believe that Jesus died on that cross at Calvary to pay for my sins. I want you to come into my heart. Forgive me of my sins, and teach me as I begin to read my Bible. In Jesus name I pray Amen. Now tell someone you have asked Jesus into your heart. There is power in the blood that Jesus shed on the cross for us. God says there is life in the blood and that Jesus is the Word come to life. There is power in the Word of the Bible. Read it. Believe it. Speak it. Ask God to show Himself to you.

Now that you have believed and asked Jesus to save you, seek the infilling of His Holy Spirit so that you will have power to let go of your will and start doing God's will. Also get baptised in Jesus name which is a sign of coming up out of the grave as Jesus did to have everlasting life and leave the sins behind.

I am not saying you must do these things to be saved, because we are saved by Jesus and not of ourselves. I used to think these things were a must. But I do believe that after you are saved and when we stand before God on the day of judgement, anything that is not spirit or good will be burnt off. This is not the same judgement of a sinner. A sinner is one who did not accept Christ. But you will be judged for the good you did and rewarded accordingly. Now God didn't tell us everything, and I don't know if the person who just barely floated into heaven on Jesus righteousness without doing many good works will have a lesser position there than mother theresa types or what. But, if you accepted Christ and then continued in sin letting your flesh rule, then God may ask you why you did nothing with what He gave you. And, there are definately verses in the bible that speak of people getting too far out on the limb of grace to where God just spits them out of his mouth so to speak. We are to work out our won salvation with fear and trembling. But I know something that helps.

Reading the bible grows your spirit. God is spirit and man is flesh. Jesus told us He would send a Helper... a Comforter known as the Holy Spirit to help us live right. Trust me, once the Holy Spirit takes up residence in your heart, you will never be the same! I know that within 6 months of receiving the holy spirit I had quit smoking, stopped looking at innapropriate tv and books, etc. It just doesn't feel right anymore. Think about this verse and it's meaning.
Pro 26:11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, [so] a fool returneth to his folly. This verse is talking about us coming out of sin and then returning to it again. God sees this as disgusting as a dog returning to it's vomit. Many of us have done it... we accept Christ with a repentant heart and make some changes in our lives. We pray for deliverance of cigarettes or drugs etc. Then we pick them back up later in a moment of frustration or rebellion. I have. It's hard to live a holy and acceptable life for God but we should try earnestly because we love Him. That is why we need to not only accept Jesus as Savior, but ask Him to fill us with the Holy Spirit (our Helper). When we accept Christ we get a measure of His Spirit, but don't be fooled and think that is all there is for you. When you get the baptism of the Holy Spirit you will know it! And you need it to help you make the right choices and have strength to deny the flesh.

Some verse references

On the day of Pentacost Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
This was not just for those people! When I got filled with the Holy Ghost, I felt the wind and joy and change in my life, but I did not see cloven tongues. God allows each of us to have our own experience, but we will know when it happens.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 4:4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. Act 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Act 9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, [even] Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. Act 9:18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
Act 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Jam 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Many people repent and receive salvation but never make Jesus Lord of their lives by surrendering “self.” It is impossible to overcome sin in your life with self still in control. This is why we struggle with sin in our lives and wonder why we can’t overcome it. We must have the infilling or empowerment of the Holy Spirit to walk in righteousness. The apostles received that same infilling power at Pentecost. The Lord told them to remain in the city until they had been clothed with power from on high (Luke 24:49). There is no set formula for receiving from the Lord. You can enter the Kingdom of God simply by repenting of your sins, surrendering your life completely to Jesus’ lordship. Tell the Lord you want all He has for you. Then remain open and ready for the infilling power of the Holy Spirit to manifest. God will do it if you are sincere. He will create or change the circumstances to make it happen.
